Gender Mainstreaming and Empowerment: Evaluating Policies in the 21st Century

Abstract

This paper evaluates gender mainstreaming as a strategy for promoting gender equality and empowering women in the 21st century. It examines the evolution, implementation, challenges, and impacts of gender policies across education, employment, and political representation. Using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, the study identifies progress made through gender-focused initiatives while highlighting persistent disparities. Findings reveal that effective gender mainstreaming enhances policy inclusivity, but structural and cultural barriers still limit comprehensive empowerment. The paper concludes with recommendations for strengthening institutional frameworks, monitoring mechanisms, and inclusive participation in policymaking
