Abstract

Workplace stress has emerged as one of the most significant determinants of employee productivity and organizational performance. This study explores the complex relationship between job stressors—such as workload, role ambiguity, interpersonal conflicts, and job insecurity—and employee productivity across different sectors in Pakistan, including education, healthcare, and corporate industries. Using quantitative analysis, data were collected from 300 employees across Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. Results indicate a strong negative correlation between chronic stress and productivity, with emotional exhaustion serving as a key mediating factor. However, organizational support and stress-management programs were found to mitigate adverse effects. The findings emphasize the importance of proactive stress management policies and mental health support for maintaining employee efficiency and organizational sustainability.
